thoughts on synchronicity and intuition

“It’s a poor sort of memory that only works backwards”
The White Queen to Alice, Through the Looking Glass

Moving beyond the rational is always tricky to describe.  Inner knowings translate poorly into words.

So when it comes to the internal experience of meaning, the subjective landscape we navigate at all times, words can be crudely representational and divisive.  Reality is at all times whole, and essentially undivided, but words can suggest the opposite.  They are at best pointers, fingers at the moon.  So, on paper and in telling, a synchronistic event is merely chance, just unlikely…perhaps a little weird.  But whether it makes sense is not the point, the internal resonance carries the essence of the meaning.

An intuition is not a thought.  It’s origins are more subtle than the intellect.  Intuitions arise from a deeper level of knowing, from a place beyond boundaries between self and other, inner and outer.  It is contact with deeper strata of information, well below the surface level of the thinking mind or physical senses…

These perceptions are chinks in the armour of accepted reality, faults in the of illusion of separation.  Gateways to the truth of that that connects, and signposts to a deeper belonging.

The more you calm the mind, the more this becomes apparent.  It starts to go beyond a feeling, beyond a knowing…and becomes gnosis.  Direct experience of a truth that both includes, and transcends the rational mind.  And this…this is about the most “real” experience you can have.
